San José City Tour and a Museum
See La Sabana Park, Rohrmoser and Los Yoses residential areas, the Central Park, the Cathedral, the National Theater, the Main Post Office Building, the Parliament, one of the museums, the University of Costa Rica and the souvenir shops in Moravia.
Sarapiquí River Floating Experience
Enjoy the soft rafting in this river. Your guide will show you the great natural richness of the area, where numerous species of animals, such as monkeys, beautiful birds, iguanas, lazy crocodiles, river turtles, and many others can be seen. You can also admire a dense and beautiful flora in this journey.
Poás Volcano National Park
Drive along dairy farms and flower plantations on your way to the Poás Volcano National Park. At 2708m, it has the largest geyser in the world. Walk through natural trails to Botos Lagoon, an ancient crater, and admire the volcanic vegetation.
Cartago City and Irazú Volcano National Park
Departure through urban and rural areas to visit the Irazú, at 3420 m above sea level, the highest volcano in Costa Rica with an interesting lunar landscape. Visit Cartago, Costa Rica’s former capital, the ruins of the old Parish and the Basilica of our Lady of the Angels.
Rain Forest Aerial Tram
Drive to the Braulio Carrillo Cloud Forest National Park. Ride the gondolas of the Aerial Tram, 30m (100ft) above the rain forest, admiring an incredible variety of exotic flora and fauna, in this tropical region. Enjoy the unique experience of observing the canopy of the forest. Later, walk through the forest to complete the adventure.
Sarapiquí River Rafting
Class I-II-III rapids. Rafting on this river is possible from July to December. A 14km ride on clear, almost pollution-free waters. Few people live nearby and the riverbanks are protected. Swim in peaceful ponds and defy the thrill of Gringo Hollow, Confusion and Roller rapids, among others.
Doka Coffee Plantation - Poás Volcano National Park - La Paz Waterfalls and Gardens
Departure through the Central Volcanic Mountain Range to visit Doka, a highland coffee plantation. Learn about the traditional techniques of coffee farming, milling and roasting. Continuation to Poás Volcano at 2.708m (8.885feet), considered the largest geyser in the world. Visit La Paz Waterfalls and Gardens with the world’s largest butterfly garden and a beautiful hummingbird gallery, among others.
Irazú Volcano - Orosi Valley - Lankester Garden
Cartago, Costa Rica’s former capital city, the ruins of the old Church and the Basilica of our Lady of the Angels. Later, at 3.420m above sea level, admire the highest volcano in Costa Rica with its interesting lunar landscape. Continue to Paraíso and then through the marvelous Orosi Valley. See the Cachí hydroelectric power plant. Visit the ruins of the Ujarrás Church and the Orosi Church, one of the oldest colonial churches in Costa Rica. Later, admire the Lankester Gardens, with the largest orchid collection in Central America.
Tenorio Volcano National Park and Río Celeste
The Tenorio Volcano National Park consists of four volcanic peaks and two craters. Tenorio attains a maximum height of 1913m (6,287 feet). Admire the gorgeous Celeste River as the trail takes you to “Teñideros”, the point where the river gets its light blue color from certain components present in the water, such as copper and sulfur.
Rincón de la Vieja National Park and Volcano
With an extension of 14,084ha, the Rincón de la Vieja National Park comprises an active strata volcano. Nature is diverse, with giant trees and more than 257 bird species. At the foot of the southern flank enjoy Las Pailas, which covers approximately 50ha (124 acres) of hot springs, solfataric lakes, and soffioni or holes that expel clouds of steam. Or in “Azufrales” relax in the small pools with hot springs. Swim near refreshing waterfalls in Cataratas.
Tortuga Island Cruise on the Gulf of Nicoya
Drive to Puntarenas or Herradura. Cruise the Nicoya Peninsula to Tortuga Island, the only virgin island in the Gulf. In an area of 120ha, enjoy the rare tropical dry forest. At 172m, the highest point of the island offers a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean and the island’s coastline. Leisure time at the beach, opportunity for snorkeling.
Tortuguero Rain Forest National Park and Canals
Departure to Limón through the Braulio Carrillo Cloud Forest National Park. Experience the weather, temperature and landscape variations. After Siquirres, see many of the largest banana plantations and learn about the fruit production and growing process. Then, board the boat to Tortuguero and admire the great diversity of flora and fauna during the cruise: sloths, monkeys, crocodiles and green turtles. The mysterious Tortuguero Rain Forest is magnificent with its 309 different bird species, swamp forests and floating aquatic plants. You may also see the fishing bulldog bat, keel-billed toucans, anurans, seven species of turtles and manatees. Visit also the small village of Tortuguero before your start your return by boat to the disembarking point by Matina to continue by road to San José.
