Socio-environmental Policy

Our commitment to environmental and social sustainability is an integral part of our daily activities in ARMOTOURS. As a means of reducing our carbon footprint, we are improving recycling, reducing waste and reusing materials whenever possible, as well as improving the efficiency of resources in all of our company departments. As part of our social responsibility, we are continually looking for ways to help our community, collaborating with local institutions and supporting local projects. Additionally, we require that the providers we work with have a similar commitment to the environment and social welfare.

Code of conduct:
  • To protect children and adolescents from commercial sexual exploitation in travel and tourism in Costa Rica. It is a commitment from the Costa Rican tourism industry to discourage and sanction commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents, and an axis for responsible and sustainable tourism.
ARMOTOURS signed and agrees to comply with zero tolerance of commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents. http://www.paniamordigital.org/

Certification Program for Sustainable Tourism (CST)
  • The main purpose of the CST is to turn the concept of sustainability into something real, practical, and necessary in the context of tourism competitiveness of the country, trying to improve the way in which natural and social resources are used, promote an active participation of local communities, and provide support for the entrepreneurial sector. This certificate is awarded at five levels, from entry level to the maximum level of coverage of the sustainability criteria in all areas (Management, Economic and Social, Environment). CST promotes actions that benefit us and help the country. https://www.ict.go.cr/en/sustainability/cst

Corcovado Foundation
  • Is a leading not-for-profit conservation organization in Costa Rica, with an excellent reputation for community engagement. The conservation programs are based in the southern Pacific region of Costa Rica, known as the Osa Peninsula which is famous for its intense biodiversity and pristine wilderness. They are a hands-on, down to earth local leader in conservation, working with people to protect our natural resources. You can also get involved by donating to the Corcovado Foundation, purchasing a gift, or becoming a member of one of the sustainable tourism programs. http://www.corcovadofoundation.org/

The Corcovado Foundation sea turtle conservation and volunteering program is now in its 13th year and they need all the possible help! We at ARMOTOURS are part of conservation:  Excelente DMC and the ARMOTOURS Group have been involved in the conservation of endangered sea turtles in Costa Rica’s spectacular Osa Peninsula since 2013. Also we have adopted two turtles, the first named ARMOTOURS and the second Excelente DMC.

Recently we received news about Excelente, a Lora turtle, found in Playa Río Oro and we were informed of its development (shell now up to 66cm long and 75cm wide, and left nest of 134 eggs, birth of nestlings on August 30, 2017).

As donors, volunteers, and members, we are the driving force behind environmental efforts. Our passion to protect nature and create a better world is key to our work. Year by year, with our help, we contribute to combining environmental education and conservation activities to provide local communities with a viable socioeconomic alternative to poaching.
